Masked Israeli settlers attacked a convoy of European diplomats and a French mayor in Taybeh, injuring three people and smashing a Belgian vehicle window, as settlers tried to stop Palestinians harvesting olives. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]

Belgium and France condemned the violence and called for sanctions and arrests; Israel’s foreign minister also condemned the attack but faulted diplomats for not coordinating with the military. [1] [2] [3] [4]

The assault follows a separate attack on a Washington Post photographer and comes days before Israel’s October 27 election. [2] [3] [4]
